FISH & SEAFOOD

Recommended use: Eat (fatty) fish at least once a week.

In many parts of the world, fish was the primary source of high quality protein in the natural diet. On top of that, fish is a source of essential omega 3 fatty acids (especially fatty fish including salmon, trout, mackerel and sardines). All fish are good sources of quality protein and can be eaten freely.

Be aware that farmed fish are often fed on leftover agricultural waste, so it may be better to get wild caught fish if you can. Both canned and frozen fish are often wild caught and are cheaper alternatives to fresh fish.
