MILK

Recommended use: Avoid unless you spend an earned cheat.

Although other dairy products like cheese and yogurt can be earned as part of your daily menu, milk is in our “cheats only” category. This is because it contains more lactose (a sugar that many people don’t tolerate well) and may cause reactions even in people that are not officially lactose intolerant.

In essence, milk is a sugary drink with some fat and protein in it. Like all sugary drinks, the liquid sugars are quickly absorbed in your body and can cause an unwanted insulin spike.

Traditionally, milk is touted as a good source of calcium, but it’s healthier to get your calcium from fermented dairy products (like cheese and yogurt) or other sources (like leafy vegetables and nuts).
