White rice is a cultivated addition to our natural diet. Worse, it is a processed starchy grain, which should put it squarely in our “cheats only” category.
However, white rice is also a comparatively clean food, and it contains very few antinutrients, meaning the occasional side of rice should not be a problem as long as you live an active life. View rice as a treat rather than a central component of your meals. If you cool your rice before eating, the starches become more resistant; they digest more slowly and help feed your intestinal flora. Sushi time!
You can of course eat whole grain rice (also in moderation), but feel free to eat white rice from time to time.
